to develop Malaysia into a high-income nation by 2020, UCSI University is well on its way to achieving Entry Point Project 10 (EPP10) – Hospitality and Tourism Education Clusters.
In August 2011, the University together with the Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Human Resource launched Malaysia Centre for Tourism and Hospitality Education (MyCenTHE) to create high-value jobs, career pathways and business opportunities in the tourism and hospitality industry to support the national agenda of building a high-income nation. This is achieved through the innovative pedagogy of work-based learning.
As a Praxis University, students at CETHE are allotted industrial practice within the UCSI hotels and other 5-star hotels. Paid a monthly allowance for their work at these training hotels, convention centres and visitors attractions while undertaking their studies, these students will upon graduation be assured of job guarantee among the 5-star hotels namely the UCSI hotels, Pullman hotels, the Sarawak Cultural Village and the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching in Malaysia. Consequently, our students will have had 10 times more industrial work experience than students in a conventional tourism and hospitality programme.

conventional approach where they could not only work while studying but earning some pocket money while being coached by their lecturers and industry experts.
The UCSI Work-Based Diploma in Hotel Management, students will study multidiscipline-knowledge and skills required for modern management in the global hospitality industry. It covers a wide range of duties from front office and housekeeping, to Food and Beverage management, to supervision of relations between staff and guests, as well as back office administration (marketing, human resources and accounting skills).
Under the Work-Based Diploma in Hotel Management in UCSI University (Sarawak Campus), students will have the opportunity to work at convention centres or 5-star hotels e.g. Pullman hotel, Sarawak Cultural Village, Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, etc while pursuing their studies.
Students will attend classes in the morning and work in the afternoon / evening for about 4 hours a day (5 days a week).
Students will be given an allowance of RM300 per month for their work done.
